After few years of using the car, they may want to sell that. Generally, people expect more money by selling their product. But, many people do not know how to sell the used car for good price. There are few instructions to sell the car, such as:
  • You can find out the value of your car to sell by checking the blue book, which is a catalog of car values. You can get this book at banks and libraries and through online.
  • You can look for the market price of the similar cars in the classified section of local paper or local auto trader publication.
  • According to the car condition, mileage, coloring, repair work, you can decide the maximum and minimum price of the car to sell.
  • In order to get good look for your car, wash and wax the car. Empty the trunk, fix the interior' broken knobs. Interior can be cleaned thoroughly.
  • You collect all the service and repair records and and take the photocopies of the records and give one set of photocopy to buyer and it is required.
  • You can meet the authorized automobile department to find out the, requirement of smog certificate.
  • You can give an advertisement of your car for sale in local papers, and other classified and resources.
  • You can say about why are you selling that car, if any buyer wants to buy your car. Tell about gas mileage and repairs which were done.
  • You say the selling price of the car, if they ask to reduce the price then you can reduce or politely say that you cannot accept anything so low. You can reduce the price where you can accept to sell. Finally, get an agreement to sell.
  • You can accept cash, a cashier's check or money for the payment from buyer. If you know person very well you can take personal check, otherwise you should not.
  • Sign can be made on the title certificate of the car to transfer the ownership of the car. There are two important certificates such as title certificate of the vehicle and and odometer statement which shows the mileage of the car. These two certificates should be given by seller to buyer. In some states smog certificate is also necessary. You can return other documents like car's warranty, service records.
  • You inform your insurance company about selling the car and new owner.

  • Follow the instructions of the Federally mandated state new hire reporting. New hire registration programs are managed and implemented by the Federal legislation to track individual employment data for the purpose of quick child support enforcement and fraud control of different welfare programs.
  • You should be aware of tax reporting schedules and requirements.

SME Access to Finance Barometer : BIS

According to BIS 'SME Business Barometer', about 49 percent of SME owners claim that only the external finance is vital for their business. One of the main reason to seek finance is to secure working capital as per 59 percent of them and also this portion is more than in any previous Barometer.

Among the SME owners who are seeking finance, 46 percent of them looked for bank loans and about 33 percent an overdraft. There is an increase in applications for bank finance in December of 2009. Bank finance is opted by construction and service sectors.

Around 38 percent of them who opted for finance reported a sort of difficulty in trying to get it. About 30 percent of them who opted for finance where not able to gain any. The statistics have not changed from previous Barometers but the percentage having difficulty in getting finance remains to be much higher than the 2007 and 2008 ASBS.


28 percent of those who are with bank overdrafts reported that their bank has put up interest rates in the past 6 months though 3 percent reported that interest rates have decreased. It is also similar to the previous barometers, but the percentage reporting a decrease is less.
