Know the Food Items That are to Be Eaten While Having Braces?

Orthodontic treatment is almost incomplete without using braces. A patient with orthodontic treatment faces physical restraints, in managing and adjusting in the early days of wearing braces. So, it is necessary to take care of braces while having food. Braces are very fragile in nature, hence they can be easily broken. Some of the food items are responsible for the damage to the braces and it can lead to extension in longer treatment of braces and will increase the risk of cavities and stains on your tooth.   • Avoid harder food items like raw vegetables such as cauliflower, carrot, corn on the cob, crunchy foods like pop corn, ice, pizzas, samosas, tortilla chips etc, fruits such as apples, guava etc,. which are harder in nature, smaller grains, tough meat without bones, ribs, nuts and seeds etc,. Apples can be cut into pieces while having but, biting apple is not allowed.
  • Avoid sticky items such as chewing gums, caramels or chunky peanut butters etc,.
