How to Place a Wall Art?

Decorating your home with a piece of wall art is likely to give a better look and an aesthetic look to people living in the home. However, it is not only selecting a wall art for home is difficult but how to place them is a great task.

The art work you select should be hung in a way that it is the center of attraction, which makes the room look better. If you have already purchased an artwork or a painting for home, and it is ready for hanging but you are confused on how and where to hang it,  here are  tips that are helpful in such a situation.

Artwork according to the wall size: When  hanging a wall art consider the space of the wall. Small size art should be chosen for narrow walls and big size for large walls or else you can hang 4-6 small pieces of artwork on a big wall. Pieces of small sizes hung on wider walls will make them less visible on wall, and do not impress visitors. Another way of hanging wall art is that you can place vertical form of artwork on narrow walls to make the space look bigger. Make sure that you don't hang art too high or too low. It should be placed centrally on the wall and at eye level.

Artwork according to the furniture size: When you are hanging an artwork on the wall, see that it should not be bigger than the width of the furniture. For instance, a large painting hung above small coffee table will make the painting look out of size and gives an awkward look to the wall. Similarly, if you want to place an art or painting on the back of sofa wall, go for horizontal painting and this should be according to the size of the sofa

Artwork according to the style of the room: When placing a piece of art, make sure that it matches the style of the room. For instance, arranging the paintings in symmetrical form is formal and traditional style.

Asymmetrical style is casual and modern. This style of placing artwork can be used in modern rooms. Use large wall art in modern rooms. Whereas if you want to give a vintage look to any room, place black and white pictures, botanical prints etc. Also consider the style of the frames.

With proper tips and techniques of hanging wall art, you can make it look great and display it effectively.

Maintaining Internal Environment of Conservatories

Many homeowners prefer to build a conservatory to bring a new look to their home. Effective planning and construction makes this project successful. However, it is not just enough to leave the architectural structure as such after construction. A proper and necessary maintenance should be carried out whenever needed to remain the beauty of the conservatory. General maintenance measures include roof and glass cleaning, lead work problems, replacement of double glazed units, replacing roof tops and so on. However, special maintenance measures have to be carried out to maintain the internal environment of conservatories.

The most common feature you observe in a conservatory is condensation. It is observed when water vapor contacts with cold surface like glass. The vapor then turns to droplets of water. It is very much difficult or impossible to completely eliminate the condensation. However, it can be minimized. The conservatories should be allowed to dry out.

In order to control the condensation, it is also necessary to marginally increase heating in areas where condensation is more problematic. If required, manage some heat in the conservatory by placing heating appliances. It is possible to maintain the temperature of the inside panes of double-glazing when they are placed under windows. Also, determine the necessity of fitting a fan unit and check its maintenance.

The internal environment of a conservatory can be made comfortable by providing natural ventilation which also reduces condensation. Open the roof vent, doors and windows. Ensure that the trickle vents in the ridges and eaves are open all the time. These principle things help to maintain the internal conditions of your conservatory.

Enhance Your Granite Countertops with Elegant Edges

Planning to arrange granite countertops for your kitchen? It's a good idea to enhance the natural appeal of the kitchen by adding granite countertops. The natural stone, though available in few color shades, is suitable to get a traditional view to the kitchen. However, the presentation of granite countertops with elegant edges upgrades its appearance.

Various designs of traditional edges including squared straight edges and beveled edges are commonly preferred by many home owners. The beveled edge looks like a straight slice out of the granite. It can be a quarter bevel, a half bevel or a reverse bevel based on the angle of the slice. However, apart from these traditional edges, rounded edges are also more popular. A rounded edge granite is nothing but the design where the straight edges with the upper or both upper and lower angles of the edges are rounded off. If the entire thickness of the edges is rounded off then it is termed as a bullnose design. Instead of the square and straight edges, it is better to prefer rounded or bullnose edges as they are less prone to chipping. They also do not cause harm to you when working at the edges.

Compared to these traditional models, certain modernized styles and designs of edges bring a new look to the granite kitchen countertops. A cove edge which is a concave rounded edge gives a grooved edge to the countertop. An elegant S-shaped profile with both concave and convex shapes that is often termed as an ogee edge style is a unique way to enhance your granite countertops. Choose any of these different designs of granite edges. However, remember that a simpler edge is preferable if the slab is only 2 centimeters thick. If you use slab of 3 cm thickness, then prefer a fancy or complex edge to make it look much better.

Another important characteristic feature that makes quartz counter tops preferable is their resistance to damage. Unlike granite counter tops, they are non-porous. So, they are not easily susceptible to staining or scratches. Though it is even believed that a sealant is not necessary, it is recommended to attach a stone sealer to ensure its proper maintenance. They are even not damaged due to extreme heat and you need not worry about using trivets and place mats. Also, you can cut vegetables or fruits directly on their surface. The essential care and maintenance for these kitchen counter tops is very less when compared to other models.
