Know About Traditional and Modern Conservatories

Conservatories had been in existence for quite a few centuries. Most home owners are interested to add conservatories as a part of home improvement. A conservatory is a hardwood or glass residential solarium or a greenhouse where plants are cultivated. Both traditional and modern conservatories provide additional space which helps in allowing sunlight to enter inside the house. They can be used as a living room, music room, kitchen, library, or a dining room.

Traditional Conservatories:
Most of the traditional conservatories are made of hardwood. A hardwood conservatory can be made of different types of hardwoods such as oak, sapele, idigbo, iroco, mahogany and others. Construction and assembly of traditional conservatories is very easy. Many people these days are also interested to construct them. Edwardian, Victorian, Georgian, and Queen Anne styles are some of the different designs of traditional conservatories.

The Victorian type of traditional conservatory includes a bay front and a steeply pitched roof. Because of this unique shape, an elegant look is provided. A Georgian conservatory has a flat front. The conservatory resembles a square box and has enough space to keep any furniture. Edwardian style in conservatories are rectangular or square shaped. These conservatories help in allowing free flow of light and air inside the room.

As the technology is getting advanced, people are using different materials for constructing conservatories.

Modern Conservatories:
Traditional conservatories are classic. They may not give a good look for houses of these days. So modern conservatories have come to rise. One can design these bespoke conservatories based on their needs. Materials such as aluminum, PVC and glass are used to construct them.

These conservatories can be of various shapes and designs. They make use of energy efficient double glazed windows. These windows help in maintaining the warm air inside the room and prevents cold air to enter the room. Outside noises are also blocked by these windows. Modern conservatories require very less or no maintenance for longer periods. So people prefer to maintain modern conservatories.

Both modern and traditional conservatories can be given a beautiful look with some decorative additives.
