Know about Livestock Farming

Livestock are domesticated animals raised in an agricultural field to produce goods such as food, fiber and labor. To achieve profits, livestock are generally raised. Raising animals or an animal husbandry is a component of modern agriculture. In this livestock many animals are covered for raising but in reality it is usually taken to mean four-legged stock.. so poultry is excluded from this type of farming.

Livestock includes both beef and dairy cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, mules, asses, buffalo, and camels and also raising of birds commercially for meat or eggs (that is chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, and squabs) is treated separately.

Even bees are raised for their honey. Fishes of all kinds are raised on fish farms. Livestock gives us not only meat, eggs and milk but also it gives us to use the skins(leather) and hair of some animals for blankets, clothing, brushes and shoes. And some of the livestock organs are used for medicines like insulin. Buttons, combs, glue and knives are made from hoofs and horns. Animals manure will be used to make plants grow better.

Dairy cows found in the Dairy Farm and chickens found on the Poultry Farming but both were separated because they are a large part of livestock and requires more space.

Livestock farming is well planned because farmers design their herds by deciding which features are good ones. Farmers will combine the good family cow with a good family bull to make a calf that has qualities of both the cow as well as bull.
