Governess and Her Duties

As you know, there are many kinds of people who provide childcare. There are nannies, au pairs, childminders, babysitters, and many others. Have you ever heard of a governess? A governess is a person who mainly focuses on the development, whether it may be educational or social one, of children. Many families hire a governess to look after their school-going children.

She may be a private teacher, tutor, or mentor to supplement their school education. She also travels with the family whenever needed. A governess is hired mostly by those families who need to relocate frequently. Any gaps in formal education due to relocation of school can be reduced by the help of a governess. A governess is given a full charge of the education of your children. All educational tasks should be coordinated by her. She should also acquire course materials, educate the kids and administer exams.

As said, a governess focuses on social and intellectual development of children. The educational activities such as art, music, specialist languages, history, and so on which are not available at school can be educated to children by a governess. However, she is not involved in any physical welfare of your kids. She may or may not live with the family. An ideal governess should be educated in early childhood education of nursing. Specific educational qualifications are necessary for a governess. She should also have patience to deal with kids. She should explain things to kids in such a way that it is easy and interesting for them to understand.
