Blood and Saliva Tests – Ideal for Post-Accident Drug Testing

Post-accident drug testing, as the name suggests, is conducted after an accident or after any incident on the job that leads to suspicion. It is one of the effective measures of a drug-free workplace program. It is conducted to know if the accident that had occurred is because of the influence of illicit drug or alcohol. Post-accident drug testing is not intended to punish the drug abusing employee or make him or her lose his job. It is mainly meant for protecting the company from liability in event that the individual is under drug or alcohol influence at the time of accident. However, blood and saliva drug test method which detect present drug abuse are only used for post-accident drug testing.

In a blood test, blood sample is drawn from the concerned employee and checked for the presence of illicit drugs or alcohol. However, it is an invasive procedure. It also requires laboratory analysis to confirm the results, which also takes time. An alternative method of saliva drug testing can also be conducted for post-accident testing. It is very much non-invasive. A mouth swab is kept into the employee's mouth and rubbed along his cheeks and teeth in order to collect the saliva sample. The sample is tested for the presence of drugs or alcohol. Recent drug abuse is clearly evident from saliva drug test. Another advantage of this method is that it provides quick results within a few minutes. So, you need not wait for the results as in case of blood tests. Conclusions regarding the accident or injuries can be taken as early as possible with the help of saliva drug tests. However, both blood and saliva tests can be used for post-accident drug testing.

Types of Textiles Used for Towel Making

Towel making is a huge process. It involves spinning, warping, weaving, bleaching, dyeing, cutting, folding and packing. For all these process to move a head textile is required. Each and every process involves doing some thing to the fabric. So it plays an important role. There are different kinds of fabric which are used in the preparation of towels.
Let us check few of them.

Cotton: Cotton is a most commonly used fabric for each and every clothing. Since it is made from the natural plant materials they are soft, smooth and are highly durable. Because of their quick absorbent quality most of the towels are made using this fabric. Cotton towels are available in different colors and patterns and do have a long life when compared to other towels.

Cotton and Polyester: Polyester is not directly used for towel making since it has a very poor water absorbing quality. So the better way to use them is by mixing the fabric with the more absorbing cotton. Then it can be turned in to a partially absorbing fabric which can be bought at very less price when compared to cotton.

Terry Cloth: Another popular kind of material used for towel making is Terry cloth. Terry cloth is a fabric with loops which can absorb higher amounts of water. They are manufactured by either weaving or knitting. This fabric is used for making baby towels, towels, bath robes, bed linen etc.

Waffle Fabric: Waffle Fabric is also called as Honey Comb Fabric. This fabric is usually made of cotton or micro fiber which increases its absorbing capacity. The weave of the fabric allows the air to freely pass through it and hence it will be dried very quickly and easily.

Micro Fiber: Micro fiber refers to synthetic fibers. They are made up of polyester or poly amide. It can be made with out weaving, by weaving or by knitting. If the micro fiber is combined with a right knitting process it creates an extremely good cleaning material. This fabric is used in making the towels especially which are used at swimming pools since they take very less time to dry.
These are some commonly used fabrics in the manufacturing of towels.

Know How a Quartz Infrared Heater Work?

Electric heaters are commonly used by homeowners these days to ensure warmth in winter. Among the many different types of electric heaters, quartz infrared heaters are popular, efficient and well-preferred home heaters. Go on to know how these heaters work.

Quartz infrared heaters run on electricity. They include an electrical element, usually a tungsten wire. It is present inside a clear tube that is made of quartz crystal. When electric current flows into the wire, it gets heated up. The quartz tube surrounding it traps the heat inside making the element more hotter. Upon getting hotter, the tungsten wire emits infrared light.

The infrared radiation thus emitted from the heater distributes throughout the room. It strikes the objects and individuals in its path and converts to heat. Therefore, direct and instant heat is experienced by quartz infrared heaters. Also, the radiation is uniform and spread throughout the room. So, these heaters ensure even heat wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling. Also, some of these heaters have reflectors which make the radiation to focus in one specific direction. While certain quartz infrared heaters have quartz tubes, some others have quartz lamps.

Quartz infrared heaters are quite different from traditional convection heaters and are much beneficial. Installation and maintenance of quartz infrared heaters is easy. These heaters are also affordable and hence, are better choice for home heating. Understanding the working of a quartz infrared heater is necessary before purchasing it. Enhance Your Granite Countertops with Elegant Edges

Planning to arrange granite countertops for your kitchen? It's a good idea to enhance the natural appeal of the kitchen by adding granite countertops. The natural stone, though available in few color shades, is suitable to get a traditional view to the kitchen. However, the presentation of granite countertops with elegant edges upgrades its appearance.

Various designs of traditional edges including squared straight edges and beveled edges are commonly preferred by many home owners. The beveled edge looks like a straight slice out of the granite. It can be a quarter bevel, a half bevel or a reverse bevel based on the angle of the slice. However, apart from these traditional edges, rounded edges are also more popular. A rounded edge granite is nothing but the design where the straight edges with the upper or both upper and lower angles of the edges are rounded off. If the entire thickness of the edges is rounded off then it is termed as a bullnose design. Instead of the square and straight edges, it is better to prefer rounded or bullnose edges as they are less prone to chipping. They also do not cause harm to you when working at the edges.

Compared to these traditional models, certain modernized styles and designs of edges bring a new look to the granite kitchen countertops. A cove edge which is a concave rounded edge gives a grooved edge to the countertop. An elegant S-shaped profile with both concave and convex shapes that is often termed as an ogee edge style is a unique way to enhance your granite countertops. Choose any of these different designs of granite edges. However, remember that a simpler edge is preferable if the slab is only 2 centimeters thick. If you use slab of 3 cm thickness, then prefer a fancy or complex edge to make it look much better.

Know About Portable and Fixed Space Heaters

When looking for a simple means of providing heat to a room or series of rooms, the space heaters are great. The space heaters may be of permanent heat sources or temporary one's. Space heaters are available in very comfortable sizes and shapes. Some of the units are very small enough to fit under a desk and can be used for providing little extra warmth for your feet on cold days. The type of energy required for a space heater may vary as well. For many years, the most common type of space heater relied on natural gas as the medium of choice. Connected to a gas jet, the space heater relied on the use of heating elements called bricks in order to regulate the flow of the gas and the generation of the heat. In many homes, these types of space heaters were installed in living room fireplaces, while recessed models would be placed on bathroom walls, allowing the heat level to be adjusted at various points around the house.

Electric space heaters have also come in to use. Electric heaters were manufactured for both fixed and temporary source of heat. A major advantage of electric heaters is that it requires nothing more than a level spot and an electrical outlet for use. Portable heaters today are almost all made to use electricity, although portable heaters opted for camping may employ kerosene.

Sedating Your Dog During Travel – Is It Good?

A vacation and travel with your pet is very much enthusiastic. However, proper care during travel is essential to make it enjoyable. When traveling with your pets, you may consider many issues like carrier, special rules and regulations of airlines to be followed, etc. Then, the other important thing you must think of is the sedation. Many people opt to sedate their pets to keep them calm without any problems. Is it really good?

Sedatives are in general given to pets in association with thunderstorms or fireworks. However, it is also essential during long pet travels. Sedatives reduce the nervousness and fear of the pets and make the over-reactive pets calm. They are also considered to avoid separation anxiety. They also help to reduce the potential for self-injury. Any unlikely disturbances caused due to fear and anxiety of the pets during airline travel can be, therefore, reduced by giving sedatives to your pets. This also ensures peace of mind to you as well.

However, it is not that safe to make your pets consume sedatives. Certain side effects often arise with sedation. Blood pressure of the pets gets affected due to sedatives and it may even lead to respiratory or cardiovascular problems. These health issues may get worsened by air pressure changes during flight. There are even chances of life-threatening issues. Another thing to consider is, when you leave the sedated pet in the cabin of a flight, no one will be there to look after it check on them to offer any medication if problems arise. Also, some airlines do not accept sedative pets. So, it is recommended not to give sedatives to pets during travel. Nervous pets, though become frightened and furious initially when kept in a carrier in a quiet dark place, later calm down gradually and go to sleep. Better to prepare your pet for travel instead of giving sedatives keeping its health in risk.
